Artisan 730, 837 offer elegant variations

Epson has added two variations to their line of Artisan high-quality all-in-one wireless printers -- The 837 and the 730, both sporting covers and trim in what the company calls "midnight blue" and also including a new emerald green smart-touch panel that is three times brighter than before, offering easy and computer-free navigation. Both printers can be paired with companion apps for iOS and Blackberry devices for remote printing.

The two new models, which will arrive at retailers in September, both offer six-color Claria high-definition ink, wireless and Ethernet networking and the ability to print directly onto ink-jet printable blank CD and DVD media. Epson claims them to be the fastest 4x6-inch photo printers, and with the Artisan 837 also offers high-speed color faxing and copying, along with a 30-page automatic document feeder.

The printers deliver up to nine pages per minute (single-sided), and nearly five pages per minute double-sided, and can be set to receive and print documents from remote locations using one of two Epson print apps for the iPhone (either PrintJinni for Epson or Epson iPrint) or PriApps Mobile Print for Blackberry.

The Artisan 730 is expected to retail for $200, while the Artisan 837 will sell for $300.
