Samsung Hercules spied heading to Telus

The Samsung Hercules may finally have been spotted at the Samsung Secret event held on Thursday in Toronto. The phone appeared to match up with descriptions and looked like a Galaxy S II with the Infuse 4G's larger 4.5-inch screen. The MobileSyrup sighting showed the phone conspicuously using its Yahoo stock ticker widget for Telus in what's a likely clue as to the Android phone's final destination.

Its look is clearly different than that of the Galaxy S II and has a touch of the Nexus S' rounded design. The home button layout has also been changed up, although it's hard to tell if it's the S II home button layout or one closer to the Infuse 4G's less Apple-like, four-icon array.

If a match, it could be the first phone with 42Mbps 3G in Canada, just as it should be on T-Mobile in the US. Its extra speed would be helped by having the Galaxy S II's hardware, including the dual-core 1.2GHz Exynos chip, eight-megapixel rear camera, and two-megapixel front camera. Both the Hercules and the S II are expected to ship with Android 2.3 and Samsung's TouchWiz interface, both of which are visible in the spy shot.

Without getting much information at the event, it's not known how soon the Hercules will arrive. If destined for Canada, it might arrive in or near the same September timeframe as T-Mobile.
