WinTV Extend for iPad
A new utility for creating bootable OS X Lion DVDs and USB drives has been released for free, while Hauppauge has launched a new iPad application capable of streaming live TV
A small AppleScript utility that allows users to create a bootable DVD or USB key from OS X Lion's installation program has been released. When Lion Disk Maker is launched, it checks for the Mac OS X Lion installation program in the Applications folder, or attempts to find it using Spotlight. After finding the correct file, the software prompts the user to either insert a blank DVD or USB/Firewire drive. In order to create a DVD users will need a blank 4.7GB DVD or at least a 4GB USB drive. The software os offered as a free download, however the developer has set up a PayPal account for any donations customers wish to give.
Hauppauge outs new iPad app for streaming live TV from WinTV tuners
Hauppauge Digital has launched a new iPad application that allows users to stream live television to the mobile device. WinTV for iPad is available as a free download form the App Store and works with any of the Hauppauge WinTV TV tuners. These PC-based TV tuners plug into a Windows based PC and connect to a users TV source, such as a cable or satellite TV or an over-the-air TV antenna. The accompanying desktop software then converts the signal into a form that can be watched on an iPad and streams the video over a WiFi network. In addition to watching live TV, a user who has recorded TV programs using a PC-based Hauppauge TV tuner can watch those recordings on their iPad.
