Toshiba pulls out of mobile union with Fujitsu

The Toshiba-Fujitsu Mobile Communications partnership is reported to be over. The news comes just two weeks after joint venture took center stage to make a joint presentation launching the IS12T as the first Windows Phone 7 Mango mobile phone. Toshiba was the company to initiate the move, although its reasons for pulling the pin are not yet known.

Fujitsu was the largest stakeholder in the union, holding an 80.1 percent stake in the venture. It is now preparing to buy out Toshiba's 19.9 percent stake and take sole ownership sometime in early 2012.

In the meantime, the IS12T remains on track to launch in sometime in September in Japan, when it is expected that other vendors will also launch Windows Phone 7 Mango devices. The device will run a second-generation Snapdragon 1GHz processor, but will include 32GB of internal memory standard. It will center on a 3.7-inch display. [via Engadget]
