New Motorola Droid Bionic gets official leak

Motorola gave away its own plans Tuesday with a developer comparison showing the new Droid Bionic. While it doesn't show a photo, virtually every other detail is on show. As suspected, the phone has swapped over to a dual-core 1GHz TI OMAP 4430 processor, the same as in the Droid 3, and can now record 1080p video as well as play it.

The range-topping Verizon phone will ship with Android 2.3.4 and have ready-to-go video chat through Google Talk. The 4.3-inch, 540x960 screen was already known, but a surprise twist is the addition of an HDMI 1.4 output that could theoretically output 3D video. Performance and storage will also be high between the 1GB of RAM, 4GB of secure storage, and 9GB of internal, user-accessable storage. A microSDHC slot still finds its way in.

Both the eight-megapixel back camera and VGA (0.3-megapixel) front camera are virtually the same as in the Droid 3 and Photon 4G.

Motorola has officially bumped the new Bionic to September and will be shipping it about nine months after it first showed at the CES trade expo in January. [via Droid-Life]
