Over 1,000 patents could be sold
Kodak is reportedly considering selling some if its intellectual property, including a key patent that had been the focus of infringement lawsuits aimed at Apple and RIM. The company has confirmed that it is considering a buyer for patents related to image capturing, organizing, sharing and storing.
The patent that was involved in the lawsuits against Apple and RIM related to technology that enables devices to preview images. Kodak had accused its competitors of infringing the patent, however the dispute has yet to be resolved or settled out of court.
The patent sale is said to cover 1,100 patents, which would reduce Kodak's portfolio by approximately 10 percent. [via Wall Street Journal (sub. required)]
