Echoworx offers multi-platform mobile device security

updated 01:10 am EDT, Thu July 28, 2011

Supports iOS, Android and Blackberry devices

Security firm Echoworx has announced additions to their existing line of credential-management and encryption services for e-mail and data that offers end-to-end mobile security for all major devices in the smartphone and tablet arena, as well as cloud applications. Designed to work with the company's other encryption products, MobilEncrypt allows administrators to deploy a single security solution across all three major mobile-device operating systems.

Users can download the endpoint software from the app store of their choice, or use an Echoworx solution for secure content delivery and storage on cloud-based systems. The company says the new mobile-device management solutions will also work with iOS 5 when it is released in the fall. Users will be able to issue and use X.509 credentials with native S/MIME support for sending and receiving encrypted e-mail to anyone with a valid e-mail address.

MobilEncrypt can also work with other mobile device management (MDM) systems that allow them to go beyond tracking, locking or wiping remote devices. A beta version of MobilEncrypt for iOS (3.2 or later), Android (2.2 or later) and Blackberry (6.0 recommended) is now available for testing (requires signup) from the company's website.
