Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 w LTE gets official date

Verizon confirmed that its 4G LTE version of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 was arriving on July 28. Both 16GB and 32GB versions in gray and white will be in stores. The two capacities cost $530 and $630 on two-year data contracts, though adding $100 to each lets buyers walk away contract-free.

As a concession, Verizon also plans to sell the 16GB Wi-Fi model in gray for $500 contract-free for users who prefer to tether the device to a phone or pocket router if they use mobile data at all.

The addition of LTE is Verizon's only real change to the tablet, which can get estimated but real-world downstream speeds of 5-12Mbps and uploads of 2-5Mpbs when on the 4G service. The Tegra 2 processor, three-megapixel rear camera, and two-megapixel camera remain intact. Verizon leaves Android 3.1 stock.

Data plans for LTE start off at $30 for 2GB every month and scale up to $50 and $80 for 5GB and 10GB respectively.
