Part of LG's Thrill 4G smartpnone marketing launch

LG, as part of its marketing launch for its Thrill 4G smartphone, will be broadcasting recorded excerpts from a concert from the group Jane's Addiction. LG will give 100 ticket holders from tonight's live concert its new phone and have them take videos in 3D. LG will then create a 60-minute documentary from all the footage and air it on the "LG Thrill YouTube 3D" channel starting August 4.

Tonight's concert is only the first in a series of events that LG is planning to help push the launch of the Thrill 4G. In a partnership with Gameloft, LG will be sponsoring a 3D gaming tournament in San Francisco on August 10.

The Thrill 4G will be offered by AT&T for use on its 4G network. Essentially a port of the Optimus 3D, it comes equipped with a TI OMAP 4430 1GHz dual-core processor, a 4.3-inch 800x480 capacitive touchscreen and Android 2.2. It's most unique feature is its 3D capture and playback capability, which doesn't require special glasses for an on-device preview.

Although no official availability date has been given, Radio Shack is reportedly allowing customers to pre-order the Thrill and will begin shipping August 7.
