Librabtone launches AirPlay enabled sound bars
Scandinavian audio company Libratone has released two upmarket soundbars with Apple’s AirPlay wireless streaming protocol built-in. The Libratone Live is notable for its portability with a handle built right in. However, while it is not rechargeable and needs to stay plugged in for power, its amplifier delivers 150W of sound in total.
The output of the Libratone Live is delivered by one 50W bass speaker and two 25W tweeters and two 25W midrange speakers. The speakers are designed to deliver 360 degree sound, and as such, it is recommended that they be placed near walls to help fill a room with sound reflected off the walls.
The Libratone Lounge is designed for use in living rooms. Like the Libratone Live, users can stream their music directly to the speakers from their iPhone, iPad or iPod. Like the Libratone Live, Libratone recommends users place the device near walls for a 360 degree sound experience - they can also be wall-mounted. Its speakers have the same configuration and output as the Libratone Live rated at 150W in total.
The Libratone Live and the Libratone Lounge will be available for sale in Apple Stores from September in the UK for £599 and £1099 respectively. No announcement on US availability or pricing has been made at this time. [via Pocket-lint]
