LG 2011 smartphone roadmap leaked with specs

Newly rendered images courtesy of PocketNow and representing photos of upcoming handsets from LG have been revealed. The renders mimic images of phones shown to the source but ones not allowed to be reproduced. All are supposedly due out in the latter half of 2011.

The flagship device is the Prada K2, which gets a second-generation, 4.3-inch Nova display with a claimed 1,000 nits of brightness. It will have a dual-core CPU and be 8.8mm thick. There are two cameras, with an eight-megapixel rear-facing camera on the back and a 1.3-megapixel front-facing unit. It will have Android 2.3 on its 16GB of internal memory. HSPA+ data network support is onboard, and the luxury brand's name ties into a special texture on the housing. The K2 is likely to arrive in time for the holidays.

The Fantasy will have Windows Phone 7 Mango loaded up along with the required minimum specs the OS requires, such as a second-generation Snapdragon processor. It's said to take a departure from the plastic-heavy look of first-gen Windows Phone devices and may be more upscale, like the Optimus 7. Like the Prada device, it too should be out this fall.

The Univa is likely to be a successor to the Optimus One, getting an 800MHz CPU, a 480x320, 3.5-inch touchscreen, and a five-megapixel camera. It's 11.9-millimeters thick and gets Android 2.3 along with DLNA support. It should be out in the fall.

The Victor is expected before summer's end and will occupy the mid-range of the smartphone market. Android 2.3 will run on a 1GHz, single-core CPU, and there is a rare 3.8-inch OLED display with 800x480 resolution. DLNA is supported by the 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, as is the much newer Wi-Fi Direct standard. Five-megapixel rear and VGA front cameras are built-in.

The Gelato NFC is, as its name describes, an NFC-equipped version of the recently spotted Gelato Q/LS700. Other than the wireless payment hardware and software, it has that handset's 800MHz CPU, its 3.2-inch, 320x480 display, and its three-megapixel camera. It's due in the fall.

LG's E2 will occupy the entry-level portion of the market, with a small 320x240 display, a basic three-megapixel or lesser camera, and a CPU slower than 1GHz.

While a render of the LG K isn't available, it is said to have a true 720p HD display of about 4.5 inches. It's expected to be the P930 leaked in code earlier in May.

The source warns these specs could change by the time the phone reach the market.
