Lenovo's seven-inch tablet spotted running Nook Color chip

updated 11:55 am EDT, Fri July 22, 2011

Lenovo small tablet may be very cheap model

Lenovo's seven-inch tablet may be a very frugal design if a sighting Friday is accurate. The black, glossy design is using the same TI OMAP 3621 processor as the Nook Color, which could leave it too slow for Android 3 and segregate it from Lenovo's own IdeaPad K1. The Engadget tip accordingly showed front navigation buttons that hinted it would use some version of Android 2.

The slate will in some ways compare closely to the original Samsung Galaxy Tab with a similar 1024x600 display, 3G, front and back cameras, GPS, and a microSDHC slot. Battery life may be modest with a 3,700mAh pack.

Most anticipate the tablet if it ships as-is arriving sometime in the fall. The specs if they carry forward could give it a very low price. A chance exists that it might be devoted primarily to China and other countries where price is more of an issue.
