Logitech buys Mirial for better video calling

updated 06:35 pm EDT, Wed July 20, 2011

Logitech will use Mirial to expand video options.

Logitech has acquired Milan Italy-based Mirial, a maker of personal and mobile video conferencing. Mirial's products build upon standards-based HD audio/video services running on IP networks. Terms of the deal weren't announced.

Mirial's flagship product is its ClearSea software. The app takes advantage of native SIP calling and H.323, and acts as an IP gateway for video calls both on desktop and mobile. It can run on a PC or Android and iOS-based hardware.

Mirial will become part of Logitech's LifeSize division. The group provides video to enterprise, government, and school users.
