Google+ app arrives for iPhone

updated 12:10 pm EDT, Tue July 19, 2011

Google Plus now live for iPhone too

Google has slightly belatedly put out its anticipated Google+ app (free, App Store). The app provides sharing both publicly and within Circles and updates from others. Huddle messaging is also built-in and, unlike on Android, doesn't break out a separate app for the live chat feature.

The app doesn't include more than what Android users get and currently omits Hangout video chat and other elements reserved for the desktop web version. Google unusually requires an iPhone, with no mention of the iPod touch. The app currently requires iOS 3.1 or later.

The app was submitted soon after Google+ rolled out in public beta but faced an unusually long delay that led some to speculate Apple was holding up the release. No clear motivations existed for a delay, however.

you might want to note ...

That it's USA only. At least half your readers aren't in the USA.

    Re: canada

Well, considering how long it took to get approved, those versions are probably still sitting on someone's desk.
