LumenRT hits version 1.2, adds lighting to Sketchup models

updated 11:00 pm EDT, Tue July 12, 2011

Performance improvements of 30 to 300 percent

A new update for E-On Software's LumenRT plug-in for Google's Sketchup, now at version 1.2, promises from 30 to 300 percent performance improvement, gains of up to 14x in pre-processing time, and the ability to compute lighting on very large scenes. The software, which focuses on visualizing architectural projects, can now handle whole cities and large structures with ease. The new v1.2 release is free for all registered users.

The new version also adds several quality and reliability enhancements, and bugfixes to improve overall performance and stability. The company has posted a showcase of new images and fly-throughs to demonstrate the ability of the program to turn 3D sketches into photorealistic LiveCubes from which animations or still photos can easily be captured, helping clients visualize the full look of a building or other structure's design.

LumenRT Review for Sketchup and Sketchup Pro is now available for an introductory price of $195 for a limited time (normal price $295). It works with both 32-bit and 64-bit computers, requiring Windows XP or higher or an Intel Mac using OS X 10.6 or later.
