BlackBerry Torch '4G,' LG Thrill narrowed to August and July

updated 08:55 pm EDT, Tue July 5, 2011

Launch time-frame detailed in AT&T leak

RIM's BlackBerry Torch '4G' and LG's Thrill may be set to arrive in August and July, respectively. Although the companies have yet to confirm release details for either device, a document allegedly circulated within AT&T points to the carrier's launch time-frame for a number of upcoming devices devices. The leak also hints at the '4G' branding for the Torch's successor, which has been previously referred to by the model number 9850.

The Thrill 4G represents an adaptation of LG's Optimus 3D, featuring a glasses-free 3D display and two-way video chat. The handset will be powered by a dual-core processor, though the OS is said to be limited to Android 2.2 rather than a newer build.

RIM has yet to officially unveil the Torch 4G, though earlier leaks point to 640x480 touchscreen and an overall form similar to the first-generation model. Internally, the update is said to include a faster processor and NFC components.

A screenshot of the memo, which was posted by Androidcentral, suggests AT&T has also chosen July to serve as the launch window for Pantech's Pursuit II and HTC's and Status.
