JVC shows iPad, iPhone speaker dock for Japan
JVC Japan on Tuesday brought out a pair of new docks for iPods, iPads and iPhones that can accommodate an iPad and one of the smaller devices at the same time. The UX-VJ3 relies on connected sources to play back content but also has AM/FM tuner, while the UX-VJ5 adds a CD drive. Both share a video output, PC and auxiliary audio input and a power rating of 30W across the two speakers.
The UX-VJ5 also has a USB port and the ability to rip CDs onto external USB devices as MP3 files. The UX-VJ3 is only available in white, while the VJ5 gets six color options that include white, black, green, brown, pink and violet.
The UX-VJ5 ships in Japan late in July for 30,000 yen ($370) while the UX-VJ3 arrives in early August for 26,000 yen ($320). A North American release hasn't been revealed, although JVC often brings its audio accessories to the US.
