Apple pushes out finished Lion for developers

Apple through its developer page sent out the finished, or gold master, build of Mac OS X Lion. The 11A511 build should be the one to reach the Mac App Store and possibly a wave of new Macs. No mention has been made of when the OS will be made available to the wider public.

When it does ship, it will cost $29 per person and will also be available in volume licenses that depend on redeeming codes. Lion Server will cost an extra $50 as a bolt-on upgrade, again from the Mac App Store.

The OS primarily brings interface cues from iOS over to the Mac, such as a home screen-like Launchpad to start apps, full-screen apps, and kinetic scrolling on trackpads. iCloud is now a central feature and will automatically sync photos, e-mail, calendars and some files automatically online. The Mac App Store will also ship out of the box for the first time with a new Mac OS release.

Outside of iOS links, streamlined AirDrop local file sharing is coming in the upgrade along with Mission Control, a full-screen overlay that replaces Dashboard, Exposť, and Spaces all at once.

    oh boy

Can't hold back the excitement. It's lion! With all new, well, stuff! It's like someone was looking at old Macs and said "Hey, that At Ease product is pretty nice! We should do it again in OS X!"

And AirDrop will make things simple! I mean, now, if I want to dump something onto another Mac, I have to click on that mac in the sidebar, pick the user's home folder I want to dump it into, go to the drop box folder, and drop it in there. Now, I can, well, do the same thing. But easier!

    No iCloud til fall

iCloud may be a "central feature" of OS X Lion, but it won't be available until the fall.

Steve Jobs takes it in the a**

Steve Jobs takes in the a** from lions that's how he became the first human to contract feline AIDS. Apple wants you to think he has cancer but now you know the truth.
