Xtreamer updates Prodigy media streamer for 3D video

updated 01:00 am EDT, Wed June 29, 2011

Hardware improved with new components

Xtreamer has announced that its Prodigy media streamer has been revamped with a variety of new features. The device is now claimed to be the first media player to support 3D video streaming via HDMI 1.4, while the new UI takes advantage of HTML5 and PHP/SQLite standards for third-party developers. The interface is said to closely resemble the HTPC experience on computers.

The hardware itself has been improved, adding a new 750MHz processor and USB 3 support. The new CPU is said to be capable of running Android 2.2, though the dual-boot feature is not expected to arrive until later in the year. Users will also be able to purchase DVB-T and CI+ modules sometime in the future, while a hard drive bay supports 3TB disks.

The revamped Prodigy is now available to pre-order for 149 Euros (~$214 USD).
