Verizon rejecting all Motorola Android 2.3 builds over bugs?

updated 08:25 pm EDT, Tue June 28, 2011

Verizon stalls Android 2.3 over Droid X flaws

Verizon may have rejected all of Motorola's Android 2.3 upgrades due to the rough state of the Droid X update, an unnamed source claimed Tuesday night. The lag, rebooting, short battery life, and other flaws have supposedly led the carrier to put a freeze on updates for other Motorola Droid devices until the update quality can improve. The Droid-Life sources understand Motorola is bringing back update teams to fix the issues but hasn't said when they might be taken care of.

The new plan puts a hold to any future Droid Pro updates and leaves the Droid 2, Droid 2 Global, and Droid X2 without updates. Some of these were predicted to get 2.3 within days but now may not see it within weeks or months.

Neither Motorola nor Verizon has commented on the accuracy of the rumor.

A delay doesn't hurt Motorola's sales in the short term. With HTC and others still largely on track for 2.3, Motorola staying on Android 2.2 could lead some users to rethink upgrades.

    No problems here

I haven't noticed any of those issues. I'm just thrilled to finally have Netflix on my phone.
