Windows Phone's 2012 update codenamed Tango?

updated 03:15 pm EDT, Tue June 28, 2011

Updates appear to follow name pattern

Microsoft is reportedly beginning to license its upcoming Windows Phone 7 update to handset manufacturers. The revamped software is said to be codenamed 'Tango," unnamed sources have told DigiTimes. If true, the company appears to be maintaining 'o' endings for the series of updates, which started with NoDo and moved to Mango.

Contract manufacturer Compal is reportedly included in the list of companies already licensing the upcoming software. The company is also said to be starting shipments of Nokia-branded Windows Phone devices in the fourth quarter of the year. Production numbers are expected to increase if the Mango-based offerings are well received.

Microsoft has yet to confirm details of the Tango update; feature upgrades and other specs remain unclear.

    That's a well chosen name

    It takes two to Tango.
Which is just fine because Windows Phone 7 hasn't got any more than 2 customers..
