Sprint summer roadmap slips out

A new Sprint roadmap uncovered Friday has shown the carrier planning to carry a slew of new higher end hardware. The Epic 2 would be an update to the Epic 4G but would be a less ambitious upgrade than the Evo 3D. It would still have a four-inch display but upgrade to the Infuse 4G's 1.2GHz, single-core processor rather than a dual-core chip. This is my next also heard it would have an eight-megapixel camera that would put it on par with both the Infuse 4G and the Droid Charge.

Less detailed but possibly more powerful is a "full touch 4G" Samsung phone. The hardware is likely the Galaxy Within, a direct port of the Galaxy S II. If so, it should have a dual-core 1.2GHz processor as well as a larger, sharper 4.3-inch screen and the upgraded camera.

Also in the docket should be the BlackBerry Bold 9900 (labeled here as the Bold Touch) and the BlackBerry Touch 9860 or a variant of it. A CDMA push-to-talk replacement for the aging BlackBerry Curve 8350i should be in development along with similarly push-to-talk Kyocera and Sanyo phones.

No mention has been made of a Sprint iPhone that's rumored to be getting close. Apple often tries to keep its launch schedules secret for all but those who absolutely need to know and may not be made public until Apple's rumored September debut.
