Fujitsu delays TH40D tablet indefinitely for mystery reasons

updated 09:10 am EDT, Fri June 24, 2011

Fujitsu TH40D tablet already postponed

Fujitsu in a surprise step delayed its upcoming LifeBook TH40D tablet. Just days before its intended launch, it pushed the release back by an unmentioned amount of time. The company gave no reason other than a "development delay."

The Japanese firm gave an apology but didn't give any clues as to what had gone wrong just five weeks after the unveiling.

The system is intended as Fujitsu's first real effort to have a truly mobile tablet with a thin design that used a slide-out keyboard. Many of its components are regular and wouldn't have triggered a delay in themselves, such as the 10-inch display, the 1.5GHz Atom Z670, or the 120GB ultramobile hard drive.
