Streams media to up to five users at once

Hitachi product group G-Technology has launched a new external wireless storage solution targeting Apple users. The 500GB G-Connect provides 802.11n Wi-Fi sharing to Macs as well as iPods, iPhones and other wireless devices. It can stream HD media to up to three users simultaneously and standard definition content to up to five users.

The G-Connect can also serve as a Wi-Fi access point for five or more users, depending on the traffic load. The unit can be powered either by an AC adapter or via USB. The drive is already formatted for HFS+ Journaled storage and is Time Machine ready. It can also be reinitialized to support PCs.

Content on the G-Connect can be viewed either through a browser or through a native iOS app.

Hitachi is accepting pre-orders on its G-Technology website now for shipment in late July. It will also be available through Hitachi retail channels. Pricing is $200.
