Credited with iCloud, Photo Stream
A senior iOS product manager at Apple, John Herbold, has left the company to become a product VP at a company called HealthTeacher. According to the latter firm Herbold played a "key role" in developing and launching iCloud, and led efforts in developing and marketing iCloud's Photo Stream image sync technology. Prior to those efforts Herbold was a senior product manager on MobileMe, and was involved in the development of web and iOS apps as well as services.
HealthTeacher mainly provides teachers with online material promoting physical and psychological health for students in kindergarten through to grade 12. "John has a proven background of engaging audiences across the devices we use to learn, play, socialize and be entertained," a prepared statement from CEO Scott McQuigg claims. "Applying his experience developing world-class interactive products, John will lead our efforts to broaden digital engagement with kids, their families and their teachers, all focused on measurably improving youth health."
In the past several months Apple has lost several workers which played important roles in the company. The most important though is retail head Ron Johnson, who is becoming CEO of JC Penney. Under Johnson's oversight, Apple Stores have expanded into the hundreds and become a major source of publicity and profit.
