Intelís new 700 series SSDís prove fast

Intel's forthcoming 700-series SSD benchmarks have been leaked ahead of the formal unveiling of the drives. The 720 Ramsdale SSD is the performance leader demonstrating sequential read performance at 200MB/s and up to 1800MB/s when writing, which is exceptional. Their endurance is also impressive and can sustain up to 32PB of 8K random writes before performance begins to degrade, in the best performing model. The 720-series will be available in 200GB and 400GB versions.

The 710-series have good performance, and achieve sequential read speeds of 270MB/s and write speeds of 210MB/s. Although the performance of these drives is not hugely improved over the previous generation, they are made using MLC NAND Flash, which should help to make the drives much cheaper. They will come in 100GB and 200GB models.

The 710-series is expected to become available to OEMs for sampling in June, with production ramping up in July. The 720-series is expected to arrive in Q4 this year. [via Softpedia]
