Rogers gives clues to HP Pre3 launch schedule
Canadian carrier Rogers gave a possible clue as to the launch window for the HP Pre3 through a new memo. A sheet mentioning that the Wi-Fi TouchPad would reach the carrier's stores on July 15, two weeks after the US, also notes that its webOS smartphone companion could be arriving four days later, on July 19. MobileSyrup's source didn't have a price for the phone.
HP had always said the Pre3 would arrive in the summer but hasn't given signs that it was close apart from a German listing that saw its own tentative June 6 date pass without fanfare.
The Pre3 is due to be HP's flagship phone and is both the fastest, with a 1.4GHz single-core Snapdragon processor, as well as its largest-screen device outside of a tablet with a 3.6-inch, 480x800 screen. Building on the Veer, it adds both a flash to the five-megapixel camera and a second, front-facing camera. Both HSPA+ and EVDO versions will be available, hinting that an American carrier like Sprint or Verizon will pick it up along with Rogers and most international carriers. AT&T could carry it as well given its sharing frequencies with its Canadian neighbor.
In Canada, the TouchPad is expected to cost the same $500 (16GB) and $600 (32GB) as it does in the US.
