MacBook Air Sandy Bridge narrowed to late June

An industry supplier leak on Tuesday narrowed down the launch of the new MacBook Air to late June. Taiwan's Economic Daily News backed up word of there being 380,000 units shipping in the first wave, 90 percent of which would be made by Quanta. Total production for the month would hit 460,000 units.

About 55 percent of the initial batch would be 11.6-inch systems, with 13.3-inch systems making up the rest.

The new Air is expected to make the leap to low-voltage Core i5 and i7 processors that, combined with Intel's more recent graphics, would lead to a major leap in performance over the Core 2 Duo processors in current systems. Most also anticipate moving to Thunderbolt ports as well as more stock RAM and possibly more storage.
