Time Capsule delays in shipping from Apple as well
Several Apple products are becoming scarce in the distribution channel, according to multiple reports, which could indicate an imminent refresh. Sources have told 9to5Mac that Best Buy channels are backordered on Mac minis as well as Airport Extremes, both of which are due for upgrades.
MacNN had previous reported on lengthening delivery times for Time Capsules from various online Apple Stores around the globe, as well as short supply on both Airport models. The new report claims that Best Buy distribution centers are also seeing delays on new Airport Extremes as well as shortages of Mac minis.
It is well-known that the Mac mini will be upgraded to include Thunderbolt in the near future, but the scattered reports of increased delays in shipping various Airport products suggests that Apple may be planning a more complete overhaul of the line, which includes the Time Capsule; recent reports have noted that the upcoming OS X Lion uses the term "Wi-Fi" rather than "Airport" in the menubar item devoted to wireless connections. partly bull
I just called someone I know who works at Ingram Micro, the world's largest computer distributor. They have over 700 of the Mac mini models in stock.
But they are out of the AirPort Extreme but have thousands of the AirPort Express.
