HTC reports $1.4 billion in May sales, doubling from 2010

updated 10:35 am EDT, Tue June 7, 2011

Sales breakdown remains unclear

HTC has announced that its May sales have reached T$40.62 billion (~$1.42 billion USD), more than doubling the company's performance from the same period last year. The company appears to be maintaining strong momentum, as the latest disclosure follows a string of positive financial announcements through the past year.

The Taiwan-based company reported T$18.82 billion (~$655 million USD) in sales for May of 2010, and T$38.73 billion (~$1.35 billion USD) for April of this year. Just last month, a similar announcement noted that net profits had tripled from the first quarter in 2010 to the same period this year.

The company did not provide any specific details regarding unit numbers or breakdown by platform, though the stellar performance has been associated with a growing Android lineup in the US and abroad. Devices include several flagship models, including the LTE-equipped Thunderbolt from Verizon and the WiMAX-equipped Evo 4G through Sprint.

HTC may be expecting to accelerate its sales even further this spring, as the Evo 3D and Sensation smartphones arrive on the market. The company will also rely on its Evo View 4G and Flyer to compete among a myriad of Android-based tablets set to launch this year. [via Reuters]
