ChaCha specs reveal processor boost to 800MHz

The HTC ChaCha phone that has landed its maker in hot water will ship with an 800MHz processor rather than a 600MHz one, according to the handset's technical specifications online in the UK. Previously, the Facebook-branded phone, along with the technically related Salsa, were said to be powered by rather average 600MHz processors. The handset was due to go on sale on June 6, but isn't yet available and is still being listed as coming soon on HTC's page.

Other major specs include a 2.6-inch, 480x320 touchscreen, 512MB of ROM and RAM, and a five-megapixel rear camera along with a front VGA camera. Storage is expandable by way of a microSD memory card slot.

While HTC hasn't revealed carrier partners, it is expected the unlocked device will cost the equivalent of $339 in Europe. It will be out in the Spring in Asia as well, with a US launch announced for later in the year exclusively at AT&T. While HTC doesn't specify it, it's likely the phone will launch with Android 2.3 preloaded. [via SlashGear]
