Leak shows OTA update scheduled
According to a leaked calendar from Sprint, the HTC Evo 4G will get an OTA update to Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) on June 6. Other clues about an OS update have also appeared recently. Changes to Sprint's website last week, since reversed, showed new orders for the Evo 4G would ship with Android 2.3. Earlier this year an HTC representative indicated that the Evo 4G would be getting the upgrade sometime in June.
If confirmed, users may be able to upgrade manually as early as Friday, June 3.
The Evo 4G would benefit from most of the improvements in the Gingerbread update, including a performance boost, front camera support, fixes to SMS and Gmail, and some tweaks to the user interface. Support for near field communications will not be supported on the Evo 4G. [via Engadget]
