updated 10:40 am EDT, Wed June 1, 2011

Features Intel Atom processor, custom UI

At Computex 2011 today Acer showed the the Iconia Tab M500, the 10-inch Iconia Tab M500. The M500 is the first Meego-based tablet by a major manufacturer. Acer Vice President David Lee presented the tablet (see video below), which had a customized circular interface that makes extensive use of widgets. Lee called the interface "snackable," and is designed to keep important content easily accessible.

Although it appears similar to Acer's Honeycomb-based Iconia Tab A500, the internal differences are significant. Lee said the M500 uses an Atom processor, but did not elaborate on CPU speed or other hardware specifications.

Lee said the M500 would be available at the "end of the year." He did not discuss pricing. [via Netbook News]
