Pantech goes Android on AT&T with Crossover

updated 11:25 am EDT, Tue May 31, 2011

Pantech Crossover gives it Android in US

Pantech jumped to Android in the US for the first time on Tuesday with an AT&T model, the Crossover. The QWERTY keyboard slider is aimed at the budget set with a 3.1-inch touchscreen, a three-megapixel camera, and a 600MHz processor, but still promises more than basics. The design is ruggedized and comes with AllSport GPS out of the box for exercising.

The phone ships with Android 2.2 and will support creating a 3G hotspot for those willing to pay for a tethering-capable data plan. AT&T is bundling the Crossover with a 2GB microSD card for app and photo storage.

Price is AT&T's focus in carrying the Pantech phone, which should cost $70 on a contract. Stores both online and off should have the Crossover on June 5.
