Android 3.1 leaks out early for ASUS' Eee Pad Transformer

ASUS Eee Pad Transformer gets early taste of 3.1

Android 3.1 (Honeycomb) for the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer has been leaked early to the Hot Hardware team. After loading the software package on to a microSD card and then keeping the volume rocker up, while holding the power button down, the team toggled the device into ROM boot mode. After selecting the update, the installation only took a few minutes after which they ran performance benchmarks comparing Android 3.0 to 3.1.

The main highlights are the addition of the new Android 3.1 feature sets. Among these include resizable application widgets as well as the revamped web browser, which is now more responsive to pinch and zoom gestures. Boosted responsiveness is also noted in the multitasking capabilities. However, the Hot Hardware team found that the build of Android 3.1 they received showed that Java script performance was down when compared with Android 3.1.

The official Android 3.1 update is expected to arrive for Eee Pad Transformer users on Tuesday May 31.
