Pendulo Studios comes to the Mac with 'The Next Big Thing'

updated 10:30 pm EDT, Fri May 27, 2011

Available via website, Mac App Store, Steam

Arriving next week for Mac gamers, Pendulo Studios and Focus Entertainment are releasing their first-ever title for the Mac, called The Next Big Thing. Described by the company as "a spiritual successor to the Runaway series" and already a popular title for Windows, the game is a comic tribute to classic movie nostalgia featuring a runaround adventure full of twists, pop-culture references, and lush, high-quality graphics and action on par with animated Hollywood movies.

The Next Big Thing features journalist Liz Allaire, who can't count up to four, along with Dan Murray -- a macho man who can't stand beetles. The pair attend a horror movie award ceremony in an industry where genuine monsters play movie monsters, and are used in kid movies, musicals and other genres as well. Wacky adventures ensue.

The game will be available for Mac via the official website, the Mac App Store and through the game service Steam. To celebrate its arrival on the Mac, the creators have put together an all-new trailer, now available on YouTube (and seen below). The adventure features graphics up to 1920x1080, and stars a charismatic duo. The Next Big Thing, like the Runaway series before it, features intricate backgrounds, zany mysteries, puzzles and a sophisticated tone.
