Leaf Capture 11.5 upgrades Aptus II, adds lens files for CF

updated 01:00 pm EDT, Thu May 26, 2011

Lens files previously limited to tethered/post use

Medium-format camera maker Leaf has released Leaf Capture 11.5, an update of its workflow tool for digital cameras. The software handles capture, processing and editing, as well as necessary file management. Version 11.5 includes major upgrades of the firmware for Aptus II camera backs, amongst which is a new interface with options like favorite settings and an outdoor mode, which has better visibility.

The update also allows pre-configured lens calibration files to be used when shooting to a CF card on an Aptus II or AFi II. Previously the files could only be applied during tethered shooting, or when doing post-processing. Calibration fixes issues inherent to some lenses, particular wide-angle models, which have problems like distortion and color casts.

Leaf is also promising faster startup and performance when shooting to CF on an Aptus II or AFi II. Capture 11.5 requires an Intel Mac with a dual-core, 1.83GHz Xeon processor, plus 2GB of RAM and Mac OS X 10.5. The software is moreover compatible only with Leaf and Mamiya backs.
