Quiets long-standing rumors
The location of an upcoming south Melbourne Apple Store has been confirmed, a report says. Construction has already begun on a shop in Westfield Southland, a mall in the suburb of Cheltenham. The claim was initially made by a local photographer, but later validated by a Westfield worker, who added that management isn't sure when the store will actually launch.
Plans for a new store in Melbourne have been rumored for some time. Mysterious job listings in fact appeared in April, referencing only a postal code as the location. Apple will likely open the store before the end of November at the absolute latest, as the company prefers to have outlets prepared for the Christmas shopping season.
It may also open before another rumored Melbourne store. That shop is expected to become a flagship for the city, and may be based in or around Crown Casino. Apple has less than a dozen stores in Australia, the most prominent locations being ones in Bondi and downtown Sydney.
