Samsung Hercules rumored for T-Mobile

Samsung is reportedly gearing up an ultimate phone for T-Mobile that would build on and go beyond the Infuse 4G. Codenamed the Hercules, according to the leak, the design would have the same 4.5-inch Super AMOLED Plus screen and even have nearly the same dimensions, but would be much faster. This is my next's sources expected that it would use a dual-core 1.2GHz Snapdragon processor and would be the first phone ever with 42Mbps HSPA+, or twice as fast as the Infuse and T-Mobile's own Galaxy S 4G.

Network support would be its own rare twist. The Hercules would support T-Mobile's native bands but would still have the Infuse's built-in 850MHz and 1,900MHz 3G support as future-proofing in the event the AT&T buyout of T-Mobile is approved. AT&T would just need to send an update to the devices to treat its usual 3G frequencies as native.

Android 2.3 would come with the phone and support NFC like the Galaxy S II, although it's not evident if it would support ISIS wireless payments.

The design would carry 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, and microSDHC card support for an extra 32GB more. The eight-megapixel rear camera and front lower-resolution camera would stay in place but support up recording up to 1080p, and the Hercules would share the Galaxy S II's decision to skip HDMI in favor of micro USB and an MHL port.

Plans are still early for the phone and wouldn't see the Hercules tested until June, with clearance at T-Mobile sometime in mid-August.
