Motorola Droid 3 gets benchmarking

Motorola's Droid 3 got some of its first hard spec confirmations through a test run using NenaMark. The Android slider was shown using PowerVR SGX540 graphics, a sign Motorola had skipped the Tegra 2 for TI's equally dual-core, 1GHz OMAP 4430 processor. It also gave away the 540x960 screen resolution and that the phone would likely ship with Android 2.3.3.

The 45.7 frames per second performance puts the phone at the high end of performance, although it's currently being outranked by the Tegra 2-based LG Optimus 2X (G2X) and LG Optimus 3D, along with modded Samsung Galaxy S and Nexus S devices.

Most expect the Droid 3 to stay a 3G phone but get an upgraded camera (possibly eight megapixels), a refined keyboard, and the latest version of Motorola's Blur interface. A launch for the Droid 3 at Verizon is still up in the air, but the phone will almost certainly come significantly later than the Droid X 2's May 26 target to avoid one device overshadowing the other.
