Microsoft blames HTC for color banding after NoDo update

HTC blamed for poor images on Trophy, HD7

Color banding and resolution problems after users updated their HTC HD7 and Trophy handsets with the NoDo software are being blamed by Microsoft on HTC. A Microsoft tech on the company's forum said the phone maker didn't adhere to Microsoft's strict specifications for its mobile operating system with HTC giving the phones 32-bit color depth support rather than the mandated 16-bits. While the company allows multiple device makers, it has strict chassis guidelines to guarantee a consistent experience across devices.

In the update, it's believed Microsoft switched off 32-bit support but didn't turn on dithering. As such, the images look washed out and with visible gradients between shades. Users are complaining of the resulting poor image quality throughout the phone, including in apps, games, photos, videos, background, lock screen and marketplace.

Microsoft promises to fix the issue in the upcoming Mango update.

    Again, Microsoft updates

Remember that Microsoft update where it rendered all phones un usable for a period of time? and now this one?
I remember Microsoft publishing a comparative chart of Windows 7 phones against android and iphones related to speed.... I wonder if they published the speed of the upgrades lol .

    It's never Microsoft fault.

Like any error message you can get on Windows, they always refer to the reseller, so pathetic.

More pathetic is why 16 bit display is mandated? Come on are you telling me WP7 phone can't do 32 bit display? we're not in 1990's anymore.
