Cisco to stop supporting FlipShare by end of 2013

Cisco announced this week users who uploaded photos and videos to the company's FlipShare Web Service have 30 days from May 12 to back them up or face having them erased. Cisco discontinued the Flip brand in mid-April among fierce competition from cellphone cameras. Flip has posted a guide online on how users can back up their videos from FlipShare.

Videos uploaded to Facebook and YouTube from the Flip cameras don't have to be backed up as they're unaffected by the deadline. Flip will also continue to provide its FlipShare video software for two and a half years, or until December 31, 2013.

The end of 2013 is also when Cisco will stop providing technical support to the cameras themselves. [via GadgetWise]

    clarification on uploads

The email I got from FlipVideo states:
"Starting May 12, 2011, videos shared with an individual, group, Flip Channel or Twitter will only be available online for viewing and downloading for up to 30 days after being sent (the 30-day limit will also apply to videos shared previously)"
Which I believe means that until the service is no longer supported in 2013, you can still upload - they just won't let upload reside on their servers for more than 30 days from the upload date. Your first para gives the impression that no videos will be available 30 days after May 12.
