Lenovo LePad hits the FCC with new name

The Lenovo LePad has hit the FCC with a new name for the North American market. It will be known as the IdeaPad Tablet K1. The timing of its appearance at the regulator suggests that it is on course for a release by June as previously indicated. Whether it will ship with Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) is not known at this stage, although when it first appeared in January it was only running Android 2.2 (Froyo).

The tablets will be manufactured for Lenovo by China's Compal and joins the 10-inch class of Android tablets. Specs first announced also indicated that it will be running a 1.3GHz Snapdragon SOC.

However, the device will be given significant additional functionality when it is paired with the IdeaPad U1 Hybrid dock. The keyboard attachment does more than add a physical keyboard to the device. It includes an integrated CULV processor of its own and will allow the tablet to run Windows 7 when docked. [via Engadget]

The Lenovo IdeaPad Tablet K1 is expected cost around $520, with the keyboard and tablet combo expected to retail for around $1300.
