Sleek and 50 Cent end partnership on headphones
Headphone maker Sleek announced that it has cancelled plans to collaborate with rapper 50 Cent on a headphone line, as announced at CES in January. The Sleek by 50 brand will therefore not see the light of day, with 50 Cent's G-Unit Brands and Sleek parting ways. The stillborn first product was expected to be a $400 wireless set of headphones that had a cord for when the battery was drained.
At the same time, another brand license agreement between Sleek, G-Unit and TV Goods has also been terminated. This deal would have focused on video production.
Sleek did leave some hope for the Wireless Hybrid headphones that would carry 50 Cent's endorsement however, with the CEO saying the company will re-evaluate the headphones. In the meantime, it will focus on US-made, in-ear headphones.
Sleek didn't provide any specific reasons for the split-up.
