Archos 9 updated with faster Atom, 32GB SSD

Likely as a result of the added competition from a multitude of new tablets, Archos has updated what was billed as the first Windows 7-powered tablet, its Archos 9. The device now gets a 32GB solid state drive, which is smaller but faster than the 60GB hard drive of the original model's. Another significant change involves a slightly faster 1.2GHz Intel Atom chip in place of the earlier 1.1GHz part.

The device otherwise maintains its 9-inch, 1024x900 touchscreen, 1.3-megapixel camera, integrated speakers and the ability to play back 1080p resolution video. The revamped Archos 9 will soon ship in the US, priced at $430. [via Pocket-Lint]
