Cablevision said bringing out 50Mbps Internet plan Monday

"Boost Plus" offers 50Mbps down & 8Mbps up

Broadband Reports claimed that it has learned from Cablevision insiders that the service provider is planning on offering a new tier of Internet access, Boost Plus. This new service will provide 50Mbps download speeds and 8Mbps upload speeds. Pricing is not known.

Currently Cablevision offers three levels of high speed Internet access: Optimum Online ($30/month 1st year, 15Mbps/2Mbps), Optimum Online Boost ($55/month, 30Mbps/5Mbps) and Optimum Online Ultra ($100/month, 101Mbps/15Mbps). Other providers charge as much as $140 monthly for their 50Mbps service.

Cablevision customers may be faced with additional in initial charges. Based on Optimal Ultra costs, Cablevision could charge a one-time $300 activation fee. The provider also could require professional installation for which it could charge an additional $35.
