AKVIS retoucher 5.0 update adds Spot Remover, RAW support

updated 07:40 pm EDT, Thu April 28, 2011

RAW files from Canon, Nikon, more supported

AKVIS has launched an update to its photo-retouching software, releasing AKVIS Retoucher 5.0 today. It restores photos by removing dust, scratches and stains, and can reconstruct the missing parts of a photo automatically. Version 5.0 introduces a spot-remover tool, which quickly removes small skin imperfections with one click. Also added is RAW file support, with Canon CRW and CR2 support, Nikon NEF support and ARW, RW2 and PEF files also onboard. A proper OS file dialog for loading and saving files is also new.

The software requires Mac OS X 10.4 or higher and works as both a standalone application and as a plug-in for Photoshop (versions 6.0 through CS5), Photoshop Elements versions 1-9, Corel Painter, Photo-Paint and Paint Shop Pro. It costs $87, or $100 for a combination of the standalone and plugin.
