Interest may be connected to gray market
Lineups have formed for the white iPhone 4 in Hong Kong, accounts say. The device is already on the verge of going on sale in the city, owing to time differences. Dozens of people can be seen waiting on the streets in a circulating video.
The Hong Kong situation is likely an exception. iPhone demand there has always been extremely high, in part because of the relative wealth of the area. It is also a hub for the Chinese gray market, since Hong Kong prices are lower than those in the mainland, and there phones are genuinely unlocked for use on multiple GSM carriers.
