Google Nexus S 4G hits Sprint May 8 for $200

Nexus S 4G dated and priced for Sprint

Sprint on Tuesday settled its launch plans for the Google Nexus S 4G. Its version of the official Android 2.3 phone is now due to ship on May 8 and will cost $200 on a contract. Data will cost the usual $80 per month for unlimited access and $30 extra per month for those who want to use Android's native hotspot feature.

The Nexus S 4G is virtually identical to the original except for the inclusion of WiMAX, which should give a boost to performance and lead to about 3-6Mbps downloads based on Sprint's official but real-world estimates. Google's Samsung-made creation is close to the Galaxy S on the inside and mostly adds a front camera and NFC wireless.

Although it's not required, the Nexus S 4G is considered the 'blessed' phone for Sprint's Google Voice integration and can make calls both from the official Google Voice app or through regular dialing using the same number.
