ThinkGeek camera uses IR to deliver night-vision

ThinkGeek has unveiled the Midnight Shot NV-1 low-light camera. The camera incorporates a five-megapixel camera and an invisible infrared flash that is capable of capturing subjects in near darkness. The NV-1 is also switchable, letting users go between standard photography and night-mode.

In night-mode, an infrared blocking filter normally over the lens retracts, allowing it to emit a super-bright IR LED burst. If night-time mode is used during the day, ThinkGeek notes that the device can see through certain types of clothing, paper and other thin materials.

The camera includes a 3-inch LCD viewer and 16MB of internal memory. It can also support SD cards up to 8GB. It is capable of shooting video in the AVI format.

The ThinkGeek NV-1 Night Vision camera is retailing for $140.
